Caring

Lillington Presbyterian Church is a place where we take seriously the call to “rejoice with those who rejoice” and to “weep with those who weep.” Here may you find the loving kindness of our Savior present and at work in the Body of Christ, the Church.

9  Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good;  10  love one another with

mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor.  11  Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in

spirit, serve the Lord. [e]   12  Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in

prayer.  13  Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers. 14  Bless

those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.  15  Rejoice with those who

rejoice, weep with those who weep.  16  Live in harmony with one another; do not be

haughty, but associate with the lowly; [f] do not claim to be wiser than you are. Romans 12:9-16

At LPC, we build community each Sunday by gathering for worship. Through worship, we learn to love God and love people. Through various groups and events, we continue to deepen our love and care for each other. Whether it be through the meetings of the Presbyterian Men and Women, Quilting Sisters, Potlucks, Easter Eggs Hunts, Fall Festivals, or Christmas festivities, or other gatherings, we are eager to grow in love and fellowship with one another.

Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12: 29-31

We believe that we are part of a larger Body of Christ where God is at work in and through various churches, communities, and people. We strive to build relationships with persons we work beside and have limited our number of partners to reflect not only our monetary commitment but the commitment with our full selves. We are always in discernment of where God is calling us as a church. Currently, we feel called to partner with the following:

Locally:

  1. FOOD: Harnett Food Pantry, Lillington Presbyterian Community Garden
  2. SHELTER: Individuals/Families Experiencing Homelessness, SAFE
  3. EMERGENCY UTILITIES: LPC Good Samaritan Emergency Fund, Johnston Lee Harnett Community Action
  4. EDUCATION: STAR Academy
  5. Globally:  Presbyterian Disaster Assistance
